  hi, this is my first post but ive been lurking around this discussion board for some time now.

  my husband (the borg) occasionally posts and i had the pleasure of meeting some great people at the apostofest in covent garden, london last year arranged by bestie and sweetpea , hi to you both and hi to freetothink, mr majestic and everyone that was there hope youre all ok.. my story in a nutshell: raised a jw from birth, my whole family, expect one brother and sister (disfellowshipped) are still jws - basically i was raised in a family who were considered one of the pillars of the congregation, we all pioneered and did the whole witness thing, in fact one of my sisters is a missionary.

  my whole jw world crumbled when i learnt about the jw/un connection and from that moment on there was no turning back.

  What's the worst thing the JW religion has done to you?

  once having been a member of the jw religion and now that you have left, what is the worst thing that you realise it has done to you?

  i.e has it left you mentally scarred?

  has it left you with serious family trouble?

  It taught me to suffer deprivation and accept it as normal, and be grateful for it. To put the life I needed on hold until the next one, that I now know isn’t coming. This has robbed me of my life and now I can’t get it back……

  Do Paul's Letters Really Count?

  if there is anyone here with some heavy bible knowledge, i would like to throw this nugget up in the air.

  in 2 timothy 3:16, paul reminds us that "all scripture is inspired of god and beneficial for teaching...." nwt (because that was the version that was sitting nearby).

  my question is: did paul consider the personal letters he wrote to the various churches and to timothy, titus, and philemon as scripture?

  Some of what Paul said has really messed up my life. Some of the things that he advocates are just plain wrong. Living to his recommended lifestyle and suffering the results causes me to know that what he wrote cannot be right at all…..

  I have a hate for the things that Paul wrote….

  i say this because i have been helped so much by the many posts that represent the way i feel about the wtbts.

  it is good to know that there are so many people that feel this way.

  i am currently inactive and dont comment but do attend meetings for the sake of the family.. my wife is still in and i have a daughter and one on the way.

  in the 1970's i was a teenager.

  i wasn't that big into disco- although i enjoyed kc and the sunshine band as well as earth, wind, and fire.

  but my really big love in music was always rock n' roll, blues , stuff like that !

  It still amazes me when listening to those tracks, how it can take you back to that time, to feel it again.

  Actually, I will add ‘Kathy’s Song’ but the live version that was released on the greatest hits album in 71. Such a beautiful song…….

  i am new to this group, but am in a few others for exjw's.

  my parents were not the best people, and when my witness sister offered me a 'safe haven' i thought it was a blessing.

  little did i know how much that choice would hurt me over the years.

  I’m not sure if this is your problem, but you can’t post directly from ‘Microsoft Word’.

  Paste it to ‘Wordpad’ and then copy from there.

  Its those Scottish women, they are friggin massive! They distort the national "British" average size.
